The Reserve bank of India (RBI) issued circular no. CHN.DOS.CATBCOMP.No.S1032/13-23-000/2023-2024 dated January 01, 2024, mentioning subject as “Centralised Information Management System (CIMS)- Return Submission- Parallel run”.
The main motive behind the issuance of this circular is that RBI is implementing a new reporting platform namely Centralised Information Management System (CIMS) for more efficient data collection and its usage. RBI has already commenced onboarding the Non-Banking Financial Companies (NBFCs) onto the new CIMS platform. The existing XBRL system shall be discontinued thereafter.
Now, RBI has decided that all the returns applicable to an NFBC which are due for submission after 31st December 2024, onwards shall be submitted in both the systems viz. XBRL system and CIMS portal and any decision taken by the RBI regarding the closure of the parallel run shall be informed to the NBFCs subsequently and CIMS portal shall be made the single primary system for return submission.
Therefore, it has become mandatory for all the NBFCs whether existing or new is required to register on the CIMS portal for the compliance of the above circular.
